Saulius Skambinas Explains His Unexpected Disappearance from Public Life

Saulius Skambinas, a well-known Lithuanian dancer and television personality, has revealed the reasons behind his deliberate withdrawal from the public eye. After years of frequent appearances on television projects, Skambinas confessed that he grew tired of the inauthenticity and sought to embrace genuine moments in his life.

Honestly, I got tired of the fakeness. I thought that I wanted to enjoy the moments and for them to be real. I don't want that imitation, that pseudo-life anymore.

He described his past public persona as one-sided, admitting that while he projected energy and positivity, his private life often involved loneliness, financial struggles, or family issues. Skambinas noted that the glamorous public parade of famous people frequently conceals underlying difficulties. He aimed to be kind and respectful, but found little genuine friendship within the entertainment world.

I have no problems, I smile all the time, I am full of good energy, which seemed to energize others. But that was one side of the coin. When I returned to real life, there was all sorts of things. Of course, malicious tongues might criticize me, what an example. But I just tried to be kind, good, respect the environment, people.

Seven years after his separation from singer Karina Krysko, Skambinas has found a new sense of fulfillment with his partner, Živilė, and their daughter. He intentionally kept their relationship private to avoid public scrutiny and gossip, preferring to share their story on their own terms. Skambinas feels no significant age difference with Živilė, attributing this to his daily work with younger people, who also teach him.

We hid our relationship because of malicious tongues, we didn't want to give them to gossip, false conversations, discussions. We wanted to tell it as it really is. Because after that, fabricated stories start to weave, and we have to defend ourselves.

While the era of popular televised dance competitions has passed, Skambinas remains active in the dance community. He now organizes seminars, championships, and camps for various dance styles. He acknowledges that artists and cultural figures in Lithuania are often idealists, rarely achieving extravagant wealth. The interview also touches upon whether Živilė was a factor in his previous marriage's dissolution.

I don't feel the 12-year age difference with Živilė at all. I work with young people every day, and not only do I teach them, but they also teach me.
