Save Our Boys and Girls Foundation's Inaugural 5K Run/Walk a Resounding Success

Hundreds of Jamaicans laced up their running shoes and gathered at Hope Gardens in St. Andrew on Sunday, July 26, 2026, for the inaugural 5K Run/Walk and Family Fish Fry hosted by the Save Our Boys and Girls Foundation. The event, held under the theme “Steps for Their Future,” was organized under the patronage of Foundation Founder Juliet Holness.

The morning fitness and fellowship event kicked off at 6:30 am, attracting a diverse crowd of runners, walkers, families, corporate teams, and community supporters. Prominent figures, including Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Sports Minister Olivia Grange, Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton, and former World Record Holder Asafa Powell, joined Mrs. Holness to show their support.

Mrs. Holness expressed her satisfaction with the event's success, stating, “This is about more than reaching the finish line. Every step taken helps us create a stronger future for young people through education, opportunity and community support.”

The funds raised from this initiative are earmarked for the Foundation’s crucial education programs. These include providing tertiary scholarships, grants, and other opportunities designed to enhance the prospects of young Jamaicans, thereby investing in their future and the nation's development.
