Scammer Poses as Veranda Salesperson, Defrauds Couple of 10,000 Euros

A couple from Willebroek has fallen victim to a serial scammer who impersonates a salesperson for a Lier-based veranda company. The man, identified as J.B., pressures clients into making substantial advance payments into his personal accounts, leaving them financially devastated and without the promised verandas. The legitimate company, Bensun Solutions, is also affected by his fraudulent activities.

He started shouting and ranting in our living room. He called us liars and accused us of making things difficult. What makes it worse: our children were present. He took a physically threatening stance, stood close, made wild gestures, and yelled at us. Our children were terrified and cowered.

Sarah and Tom, the victims, initially contacted J.B. in December 2025 for a veranda project. He presented himself professionally, even arranging a meeting at his showroom. However, he soon began pressuring them for a 5,000 euro advance payment, citing "salon conditions." Subsequently, he demanded more money for materials and groundwork, leading them to notice the bank account details were in his name, not the company's.

When Sarah and Tom refused further payments without official invoices, J.B. became aggressive. He reportedly shouted, called them liars, and adopted a physically threatening posture, terrifying their children. To de-escalate, they transferred an additional 2,000 euros, bringing their total payment to 10,000 euros. The start of construction was repeatedly postponed, and J.B. became unreachable.

Contacting the company directly revealed that no official contract was signed and no payment had been received by Bensun Solutions. The couple has filed a complaint against J.B. for extortion, fraud, threats, and harassment. Despite numerous complaints, J.B. has reportedly continued to target new victims.
