School Attack Suspect Brought Weapons Day Before Attack, Expressed Fear

The suspect in the Brinellskolan attack, Liam Nebel, allegedly brought weapons to the school a day before carrying out the fatal assault, according to sources speaking to Dagens Nyheter. The 18-year-old is accused of murdering a 17-year-old girl and injuring three other teenagers.

On the day before the attack, Nebel reportedly sent a picture to an online friend via TikTok. The image showed an open guitar case on a school toilet floor, containing a long sword, a gas mask, and a helmet. Accompanying the image, Nebel wrote in English, "I'm not going to do it. I'm too scared." His online friend urged him not to go through with any plans, even joking about mocking him if he followed the example of the 2015 Trollhättan attacker.

Despite these expressed fears and his friend's pleas, Nebel allegedly proceeded with his plans. The online friend recounted that Nebel initially seemed to reconsider, saying he could pack up and delete his account. However, the friend later stated, "But then he did it anyway." On the day of the attack, Nebel posted another image of a sword in a school toilet, this time drawn from its case, shortly before he was apprehended by police.
