Scottish giants Rangers crash out of Europa League

Rangers' difficult start to the season has continued as they crashed out of the Europa League following a 1-1 draw with Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystock at Ibrox. The aggregate scoreline of 3-2 saw the Scottish club eliminated in the third qualifying round.

Despite trailing 2-1 from the first leg, Rangers began the match brightly. Lawrence Shankland converted a penalty in the first half, marking his first goal for the club and giving them the lead on the night. Rangers appeared to have the better of the first half, controlling the game.

However, changes made by new manager Derek McInnes in the second half seemed to destabilize the team. Jagiellonia equalized in the 65th minute when Nik Prelec outjumped two defenders to head home a cross from Anders Klynge, putting the Polish side 3-2 ahead on aggregate.

Rangers had a late chance to salvage the tie when Bojan Miovski headed wide from close range, but it was not to be. The final whistle was met with boos from the home crowd, highlighting the team's poor form. McInnes has now overseen four games without a victory since taking charge.

The club will now shift its focus to qualifying for the Conference League, with a tie against Czech team Jablonec on the horizon. Failure to advance in that competition would further compound Rangers' disappointing European campaign.
