Leicester City's owners put club up for sale - Reports

Leicester City, a club once celebrated for its fairytale Premier League title win a decade ago, is now reportedly on the market. The Thai owners, the Srivaddhanaprabha family, who operate under the King Power banner, have commissioned a U.S. investment bank to find a buyer for the former champions.

This move comes after a tumultuous period for the Foxes, which saw them relegated from the Premier League in 2025 and then from the Championship in 2026. Adding to their woes, the club was penalized with a six-point deduction last season for breaching the Football League's profit and sustainability rules, a penalty that contributed to their slide into League One, English football's third tier.

According to a BBC report, the club's assets are listed at more than $269 million. King Power originally acquired Leicester in 2010 for £35 million. The club's chairman, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, took over the role following the tragic death of his father, Vichai, in a 2019 helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium.

Following last season's relegation, Aiyawatt acknowledged his responsibility for the club's current predicament, stating that he should shoulder the "blame." He also assured that "the structure will change." Manager Russell Martin's side is set to begin their campaign to regain promotion with an away match against Notts County on Saturday.
