SDP begins upload of 1,015 Assembly candidates to INEC portal

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has initiated the process of uploading the particulars of its 1,015 candidates for the State Houses of Assembly elections onto the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal. This step comes after the party successfully submitted the details for its presidential, governorship, and National Assembly candidates.

SDP National Chairman, Prof. Sadiq Gombe, confirmed that the party is actively working to meet the nomination deadline. He stated that the upload for State Assembly candidates is underway and progressing well. The party has a deadline of August 8 to finalize these submissions, a date extended by INEC to allow parties sufficient time to complete their nomination processes.

We have finished uploading our candidates for the presidential, National Assembly, and governorship elections. We are now on the State Assembly. I am aware we still have a deadline or time limit up to the 8th of next month (August) for them to be concluded.

This development places the SDP in a similar timeframe to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which recently announced it had uploaded the particulars of its governorship candidates and a significant portion of its State Assembly candidates. The INEC nomination portal opened on July 18, facilitating the submission of candidate details for the upcoming elections.

Professor Gombe also acknowledged an Award of Excellence recently conferred upon him by the Arewa Students Union, attributing the recognition to the entire SDP family. The SDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Senator Ugochukwu Uba, echoed this sentiment, viewing the award as a reflection of the party's strong leadership.
