SEA Games record-breakers named top athletes at Universiti Putra Malaysia

National shooter Haritz Iklil Hessly Hafiz and shot putter Nani Sahirah Maryata have been crowned the top male and female athletes at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) during the 39th UPM Sports Awards ceremony. The selections were made by a panel of seven judges who evaluated the athletes' outstanding achievements.

Haritz Iklil, a student from the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, secured a gold medal in the 50-meter rifle three-position event at the 2025 SEA Games, setting a new games record. Nani Sahirah, pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration, also clinched a gold medal at the same games, breaking the national record in her event.

Both athletes received a rotating trophy, a companion trophy, a watch, sports vouchers, and RM2,500 in cash. The event, held at the Dewan Kolej Pendeta Za’ba UPM, was officiated by UPM Vice-Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd. Sadulah. In total, 130 athletes received awards, including special recognition for 9 internationally acclaimed athletes and 2 promising stars. UPM's Sepak Takraw team was also named Best Team for winning the championship three years in a row.
