Search for missing diver Uğur Savaş enters fifth day off Bozcaada

Search operations for Uğur Savaş, who disappeared while diving off Bozcaada on August 12, have entered their fifth day. Savaş, who was with a friend, entered the water around 5:30 a.m. for spearfishing near Sulubahçe and did not resurface.

His friend alerted the emergency services at 11:42 a.m., prompting the deployment of two Coast Guard boats and a diving team to the area. A Coast Guard aircraft from Izmir joined the aerial search, and a side-scan sonar device was brought from Çanakkale to enhance underwater searches.

The coordinated effort involves the Coast Guard Command, AFAD Provincial Directorate, District Gendarmerie Command, Gendarmerie Commando Unit, and Naval Police. Professional 3D underground imaging and area scanning systems from the Zonguldak Forest Regional Directorate are also supporting the operation. The Çanakkale Governorship confirmed the ongoing efforts and the deployment of additional specialized equipment.
