Search intensifies for missing Slovak man in Bovec region

An intensive search is underway in the Bovec region of Slovenia for a missing 43-year-old Slovakian national. Police and various rescue services, including firefighters and mountain rescuers, have been conducting extensive operations for the second consecutive day, focusing on the area around Log pod Mangartom. The missing man entered Slovenia from Italy on Friday, June 12, and traveled towards Tolmin. On Saturday, June 13, he departed from Tolmin on a yellow Kellys mountain bike, heading towards Log pod Mangartom. His cycling app recorded his arrival in the area. Later that evening, around 7 p.m., he sent a message to his relatives stating he was looking for lodging. Since that message, his mobile phone has been unreachable, and all contact has been lost. The search efforts have been comprehensive, covering tourist and mountain trails, the Loška Koritnica and Možnica valleys, the village of Strmec, the road to Mangart Pass, and numerous other footpaths. A police helicopter and a drone operated by local firefighters have also been deployed to aid the search. Despite these significant efforts, the Slovakian citizen has not been located. The search operation, which paused at 7 p.m. on Sunday, resumed Monday morning. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in finding the missing man, who is described as being approximately 170 cm tall, of medium build, with short dark brown hair.
