The incident occurred on the 17th special stage of the Finnish rally when the nine-time champion lost control of his car on a fast corner. Ogier and his co-driver, Julien Ingrassia, reportedly exited the car on their own, with Toyota, Ogier's official team, confirming the incident. The team stated that both drivers were uninjured but were taken to the hospital for precautionary checks and would spend the night under observation.
