Second suspect arrested in Narsingdi dog cruelty case

Authorities have apprehended a second individual in connection with the horrific incident where a dog was thrown from the Nagariakandi Bridge in Narsingdi with a brick fastened around its neck. The newly arrested suspect, identified as Shahinara Begum, 52, was taken into custody on Saturday evening from the town's New Bus Stand area.

This arrest brings the total number of individuals detained in connection with the case to two. The incident first gained widespread attention after a video circulated on social media on June 25, showing the dog being deliberately thrown from the bridge. The graphic footage ignited significant public outcry and prompted swift action from law enforcement.

Following the analysis of the viral video, police had previously arrested the primary accused, Mohammad Ali, 25, on the same day the video surfaced. A case was subsequently filed against him under various sections of the Penal Code, and he has since been presented before the court. Shahinara Begum was identified from the footage as part of the ongoing investigation.

Efforts are still underway to locate and apprehend any other persons implicated in this act of animal cruelty. The officer-in-charge of Narsingdi Sadar Police Station confirmed that legal procedures are actively progressing against those already arrested.
