Second win for Croatia's men's water polo team, defeat for the women

Croatia's men secured their second victory at the first 4x4 Water Polo World Championship in Dubrovnik, but Malta made them work considerably harder than Saudi Arabia had the day before. Paul Obradović's side still completed a clean 3-0 win in sets, taking the match 4-3, 6-5, 4-2.

Roko Pelicarić led Croatia's scoring with six goals. Toni Bušić added three, Ivan Vukojević scored twice, and Filip Kržić, Hrvoje Zvono and Nardo Dragaš each contributed once. The result gave the Croatian men another victory without a lost set.

The women's team experienced the other side of the evening. After beating Turkey the previous night, Croatia suffered its first defeat, losing 3-0 to Spain by set scores of 4-1, 5-1 and 4-2. Spain's convincing win came against a weakened Croatian side that could not call on captain Ria Glas because of a viral illness.

Magdalena Butić, Karla Popović, Neli Janković and Alka Lulić scored Croatia's goals. Both Croatian teams continue the tournament on Wednesday. The women face South Africa at 5:20 p.m., while the men play the United States at 7 p.m.
