World Cup Bronze Medallist with Croatia Moves to Bulgaria

Ivo Grbić has completed his move from Sheffield United to Bulgarian champions Ludogorets, arriving in Razgrad after passing his medical. The club announced the transfer on its website, while neither side disclosed the fee.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper spent last season on loan at Turkish Super Lig side Fatih Karagümrük, where he made 33 appearances. His career has also included spells with Hajduk Split, Lokomotiva Zagreb, Atlético Madrid and Lille.

Grbić won a bronze medal with Croatia at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, serving as backup to first-choice goalkeeper Dominik Livaković. Sheffield United said on its website that “Ivo is leaving,” but did not provide a transfer value. Transfermarkt lists his estimated market value at about 1 million euros and reports that he signed a three-year contract in Bulgaria.

Ludogorets said Grbić is the third Croatian goalkeeper to represent the club, following Kristijan Kahлина and Simon Sluga. He is also the fourth addition to the squad this transfer window. Ludogorets sit second in the Bulgarian league after seven rounds with 17 points, one behind leaders Levski, who have played one fewer match. The club will compete only in domestic competitions this season after Hapoel Tel Aviv eliminated it in the second qualifying round of the Conference League.
