Security forces kill 15 terrorists in Balochistan IBOs: state media

Pakistan's security forces have eliminated 15 suspected terrorists during multiple intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted across various areas of Balochistan province, state media reported Sunday. The coordinated raids took place in districts including Mastung, Bolan, Washuk, Awaran, Sibi, Khuzdar, Harnai, and Nushki.

According to Pakistan TV, the operations resulted in the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition. State media sources indicated that these actions severely disrupted the "khwarij network" and restricted their movement. The state uses the term "Fitna al Khawarij" for terrorists associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, while "Fitna al Hindustan" is designated for terrorist organizations operating in Balochistan.

These recent operations come amid a backdrop of escalating security challenges in both Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. Last month, Pakistan's military reported killing 32 terrorists in operations across these two regions within a 24-hour period. Earlier in July, security forces launched "Operation Shaban" in Balochistan following a deadly attack on a police post that resulted in the kidnapping and killing of 27 police officers.

A monthly security assessment by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) revealed a sharp deterioration in Pakistan's security situation in May. Balochistan emerged as the most affected province, recording a 109% increase in terrorist attacks compared to April, with 71 incidents. The report also highlighted a surge in kidnappings, with 52 out of 54 nationwide abductions occurring in Balochistan, indicating the growing operational capacity of terrorist groups in the province.
