Security forces kill 7 terrorists in IBO in Balochistan's Kharan: state media

Seven terrorists were killed by security forces in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Lajay area of Kharan, Balochistan, on Sunday. The operation, conducted under 'Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3', also led to injuries among the militants and the seizure of weapons, ammunition, two vehicles, and a motorcycle from their hideouts, according to state media reports citing security sources.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the security forces for their successful operation and professional capabilities, stating that such operations would continue until the last terrorist is eliminated. The ministry's statement on X highlighted the forces' role in establishing peace in Balochistan.

This encounter follows a series of security operations in the region. On Saturday, security forces killed 10 terrorists in an IBO in Khuzdar district. Earlier in the week, five terrorists, including a key commander, were killed in Panjgur district, and 18 terrorists died in Surab district, eight of whom were killed in a premature explosion.

The heightened security activity comes amid a deteriorating security situation in Balochistan. A report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) indicated a 241% increase in the overall death toll in Balochistan during July compared to June. Security personnel deaths saw a dramatic 933% rise, while terrorist deaths increased by 199% and civilian deaths rose by 93%.
