Šeholi pleads not guilty to spying for Kosovo intelligence agency and blackmail

Fatmir Šeholi pleaded not guilty before the Basic Court in Pristina to accusations that he spied for Serbia’s Security Intelligence Agency, known as the BIA, and committed blackmail.

At a preliminary hearing, Šeholi’s lawyer, Mentor Neziri, said the defense would not ask the court to dismiss the indictment. “We waive the right to seek dismissal of the indictment. We want the court proceedings to begin immediately,” Neziri said.

The court told the parties they would receive the date and time of the main hearing after procedures to appoint the trial panel are completed.

Prosecutors allege that Šeholi acted as a person recruited by the BIA from an unspecified date until October 9, 2025. The indictment says he followed orders and assignments from Bojan Dimić, identified as the director of the BIA department responsible for combating terrorism and international organized crime.

According to the indictment, Šeholi collected and forwarded information and documents concerning Kosovo’s political activities, security conditions and the functioning of its institutions. Šeholi is the founder of the Pristina-based Institute for the Promotion of Inter-Ethnic Relations.
