SEIKO's 145th Anniversary: 'Edo Purple' Limited Edition Watches Honor Tokyo's Origins with Gold Accents

SEIKO is commemorating its 145th anniversary with a new collection of limited-edition watches. The "Edo Purple" theme pays homage to Tokyo, the brand's birthplace, and draws inspiration from the deep, blue-toned color derived from the traditional Japanese plant, gromwell, used in the Edo period. This unique hue symbolizes elegance, tranquility, and a modern aesthetic, reflecting Tokyo's historical and cultural significance.

The collection features six models across five of SEIKO's iconic series. The Prospex line includes two new models: the Alpinist watch, inspired by the 1959 original, with a purple dial and gold accents, and the Speedtimer solar chronograph, which incorporates purple into its dial and bezel. The Astron GPS solar watch boasts a vertically gradient and horizontally textured purple dial, designed to evoke twilight skies, with a ceramic bezel for added sophistication. The Presage series, inspired by a cocktail named "Edo Purple," features a deep purple sunburst dial with a translucent finish and gold leaf-like texture. The SEIKO 5 Sports series offers a trendy sports watch with a deep purple dial and gold details, balancing sporty and elegant elements. Finally, the SEIKO Selection series revives the 1980s "Rotocall" digital watch with a black case, purple rotating crown, and gold functional markings, creating a bold retro-futuristic contrast.

Each watch in the collection incorporates the "Edo Purple" color, blended with SEIKO's signature blue and accented with gold to signify the brand's milestone. The Prospex Alpinist is limited to 7,000 pieces at 31,000 yuan, the Speedtimer to 8,000 pieces at 27,000 yuan, and the Astron to 2,000 pieces at 93,000 yuan. The Presage is limited to 6,000 pieces at 20,500 yuan, the SEIKO 5 Sports to 9,999 pieces at 14,000 yuan, and the SEIKO Selection to 4,000 pieces at 20,000 yuan. A "SEIKO 145th Anniversary Brand Exhibition" is also being held at Far Eastern Department Stores Xinyi A13 until August 31st to celebrate the brand's legacy.
