Semarang Mayor Invites Business Actors to Ensure Success of 2026 Economic Census

Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti has called on all business actors to actively participate in ensuring the success of the 2026 Economic Census. She emphasized that this data collection is vital as a foundation for the government to establish precise economic policies.

"We invite all business actors, from micro-enterprises to large corporations, to actively participate in the 2026 Economic Census," Agustina stated during the launch of the 2026 Economic Census for Central Java Province in Semarang on Thursday. She highlighted that accurate economic data allows the government to identify genuine needs on the ground, leading to more targeted programs for strengthening SMEs, creating employment, and enhancing public welfare.

"With accurate data, programs like business assistance, training, capital access, and job creation can be provided to those who truly need them," she added. The Economic Census, conducted every ten years, will document all business activities across Indonesia, from home-based businesses and small traders to SMEs and large corporations. The findings will provide a realistic overview of the community's economic conditions, identify growing sectors, and pinpoint economic potential that requires further development.

For Semarang City, the census results will serve as the basis for designing more responsive government policies. Mayor Agustina also stressed that the census offers an opportunity to better map small businesses that form the backbone of the community's economy.

The Semarang City government has pledged to collaborate with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to socialize the economic census to the public and business community. This synergy is essential to ensure all business actors understand the benefits of their participation for future regional economic development. Agustina assured the public that all data collected by BPS is confidential and used solely for statistical purposes, alleviating concerns about information security.
