SEMICON Taiwan 2026 Expands Semiconductor Startup Showcase, Doubles Exhibition Space

SEMICON Taiwan 2026 is significantly expanding its platform for semiconductor startups, aiming to bolster the industry's innovation landscape. The event has doubled the size of its startup exhibition area, now featuring over 40 forward-thinking semiconductor startups. AI computing emerges as the dominant technology category among the participants.

This year's exhibition area has grown from six to 16 participating teams, showcasing technologies that span advanced processes, AI computing, silicon photonics, semiconductor testing and measurement, smart manufacturing, and quantum computing. The innovations cover the entire spectrum from chip design and advanced manufacturing to computing architecture and system applications. Notable participants include Leafy Lab, which uses agent-based AI and automated design to improve chip success rates, and Nabu Optical Systems, developing technology to reduce chip prototyping costs.

SEMI President and Director General of SEMI Taiwan, Terry Tsao, emphasized the rapid evolution of semiconductor technology driven by AI and the shrinking innovation cycles. He stated that SEMI is building a global startup platform to connect semiconductor startups, industry leaders, investors, and the manufacturing ecosystem, ensuring companies can keep pace with new technologies and trends.

The event introduces a dedicated "Chip Startup Stage" featuring nearly 40 presentations across six key technology themes: AI chip design and EDA, advanced manufacturing and process innovation, advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration, silicon photonics and quantum technology, next-generation AI computing architectures, and smart manufacturing, sustainability, and factory technologies. Breakthroughs in optical processors for AI inference and scalable silicon spin qubit architectures for quantum computing will be highlighted.

Additionally, SEMICON Taiwan 2026 is launching "Innovation & Venture Capital Day" on September 4th, a closed-door event designed to foster investment discussions and business collaborations. It will bring together semiconductor startups, corporate venture capital, venture capital firms, and international ecosystem partners. The event is supported by various research and startup programs and collaborates with international partners like Silicon Catalyst and imec.ventures.
