Senate Committee Pledges to Resolve UTME Challenges Amidst Candidate Complaints

The Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund is actively intervening to address the persistent challenges plaguing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Chairman Senator Mohammed Dandutse has assured that the committee will thoroughly investigate and implement solutions to prevent future disruptions. His pledge comes in response to numerous complaints from parents and candidates whose examinations were marred by technical issues at various Computer Based Test (CBT) centers, including the notable incident at the Good Success CBT Centre in Utako, Abuja. Senator Dandutse emphasized that such issues are not confined to Abuja but are a nationwide concern, stressing the need for JAMB to take urgent and definitive actions. He vowed that the Senate would review all JAMB activities to ensure CBT centers are functional and efficient, stating there is no justification for students to endure trauma without completing their exams. JAMB's Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, while acknowledging that some glitches are natural in an operation of this scale, assured that protocols are in place to handle them. He confirmed that candidates affected by disruptions would be rescheduled. Benjamin noted that while 100% perfection is not feasible, JAMB strives for high performance and that the frustration of candidates is understandable.
