Senate Confirms Zainab Marwa as NDDC Board Member

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Zainab Marwa to the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Marwa will serve as the representative for the North-East geopolitical zone.

Her nomination, initially put forward by President Bola Tinubu, was referred to the Senate Committee on NDDC for screening. Senator Patrick Ndubueze presented the committee's report during plenary, stating that a public screening assessed Marwa's competence, integrity, experience, and suitability for the role.

Having carefully screened the nominee and considered all relevant documents submitted, the committee is satisfied that Dr. Zainab Marwa possesses the requisite qualifications, experience, integrity and competence required for the appointment.

The committee found Dr. Marwa to be qualified, citing her credentials and relevant documents. "Accordingly, the committee recommends that the Senate confirm the appointment of Dr. Zainab Marwa as the member representing the North-East on the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission," Ndubueze reported.

Following the confirmation, Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended the committee for its swift handling of the assignment. He congratulated Marwa, expressing his hope that her contributions would significantly enhance the development and progress of the Niger Delta region.
