Senator Adeola Awards Scholarships to 5,312 Ogun Indigent Students

Senator Solomon Adeola, also known as Yayi, has provided scholarships and bursaries to 5,312 underprivileged students across Ogun State, reinforcing his commitment to education and human capital development. The third Yayi Scholarship/Bursary Award Programme, held in Abeokuta, saw over 17,000 students apply. Of the recipients, 1,735 were awarded full scholarships, while 3,577 received bursary payments. This program, now in its third year, targets tertiary institution students from all 20 local government areas in Ogun State. Its primary goals are to alleviate financial pressures on families, broaden educational opportunities, and support academically strong students from less privileged backgrounds. Senator Adeola emphasized that the intervention aims to prevent students from dropping out due to financial difficulties. He views education as a crucial tool for development and stated that this initiative reflects his dedication to empowering young people. The scheme is facilitated in partnership with the National Productivity Centre and supports President Bola Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Initiative" for education. It also complements funds available through the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). Ogun State Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, lauded the scholarship program as a timely intervention that will shape the state's future. She noted that Senator Adeola is continuing a legacy of educational support, referencing her father's past role as scholarship board chairman. Party leaders present also praised the initiative for providing relief to families and encouraging students' commitment to their education.
