Senior ISIS military leader captured in Syria

Syrian security forces have captured a senior military figure within the Islamic State group, identified as Hamza Abdullah Muhammed, also known by the alias "Abu Jihad al-Muhajir." The operation took place in the rural region of Manbij, located east of Aleppo.

The capture was announced by the Interior Ministry of the Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) administration. The ministry stated that Muhammed was apprehended through an operation carried out by the Internal Security Forces and General Intelligence. The operation was conducted in cooperation with international partners, according to the statement.

According to the ministry's announcement, Muhammed held the position of the overall military commander for ISIS's "Damascus Province." Previously, he served as the deputy to the former general military commander of the organization and also led ISIS's "Idlib Province." HTS leadership described Muhammed as one of the prominent military leaders within ISIS.
