Seol Young-woo records assist within minutes of Bundesliga debut

Seol Young-woo needed only a few minutes to make his mark in the Bundesliga. The South Korean national-team defender entered Augsburg’s home match against Schalke 04 in stoppage time and set up the final goal in a 3-0 win.

The match at WWK Arena marked the opening round of the 2026-27 Bundesliga season. Seol came on in the first minute of added time, replacing Marius Wolf’s position at right wing-back.

Augsburg already led through Michael Gregoritsch’s 18th-minute goal. The hosts gained a numerical advantage after Schalke’s Ron Schallenberg was sent off in the 17th minute of the second half, then extended their lead through Anton Kade in the 34th minute.

Seol received the ball on the right side of the penalty area and immediately played a left-footed pass into the box. Rodrigo Ribeiro finished with his right foot, giving Seol his first Bundesliga assist. The defender celebrated with his teammates as Augsburg completed the 3-0 victory.

Seol finalized a four-year deal with Augsburg on the 27th and joined the team with the No. 7 shirt. He had been included among the substitutes for his debut.
