Seoul City University Professor Park Hoon receives 'Power Innovation Leader Award' in education sector

Professor Park Hoon of the Tax Law Department at Seoul City University has been honored with the 'Power Innovation Leader Award' in the education sector. The award ceremony took place on June 30, 2026, at the Diamond Hall of the Federation of Korean Industries Conference Center in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.

The '2026 Power Innovation Leader Awards' aim to recognize individuals demonstrating innovative leadership and contributing to societal progress across various fields, including national affairs, administration, legislation, education, industry, and branding.

Professor Park received the award for his extensive contributions to research and education in tax law and taxation. He has also been actively involved in advising government policies and improving related systems. His work has focused on establishing fair tax systems, protecting taxpayer rights, advancing local finance, and conducting academic research in international taxation.

Within academia, Professor Park has held leadership positions such as president of the Korean Tax Law Association, the Korean Local Tax Association, and the Korean Legal Education Association. He currently serves as the chairman of the Korean International Tax Association, contributing broadly to the development of tax law and taxation studies. He has also engaged in policy activities in public sectors, including serving as the Taxpayer Protection Officer (Open Position Director) at the National Tax Service and as a member of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's advisory committee.

Reflecting on the award, Professor Park stated, "I am grateful to receive such a meaningful award. I will continue to strive for research and education that benefit the public, as well as for the advancement of public policy." He is also actively engaged in future-oriented research, connecting academia and policy, in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and tax administration, and university innovation.
