Seoul faces another tropical night as heatwave grips South Korea

Seoul experienced another tropical night, with the minimum temperature staying above 25 degrees Celsius, as muggy conditions persisted nationwide. Heatwave advisories are in effect for most of South Korea, with daytime high temperatures expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in Seoul recorded overnight was 25.4 degrees Celsius, exceeding the threshold for a tropical night. Other regions also saw high overnight temperatures, with Busan recording 26.9 degrees and Jeju reaching 27.1 degrees Celsius. Several areas in the Chungcheong and southern provinces did not see temperatures drop below 25 degrees overnight.

Daytime temperatures are predicted to be significantly higher than average, ranging from 31 to 36 degrees Celsius, which is 3 to 6 degrees above the seasonal norm. The highest perceived temperatures are expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius nationwide. In some parts of southern Gyeonggi Province and the southern regions, the perceived temperature could reach as high as 35 degrees Celsius.

The Korea Meteorological Administration has issued warnings for the ongoing heatwave, urging caution as the intense heat continues across the country. The public is advised to take precautions against the heat.
