Seoul hits 40C as Nongshim donates 50,000 bottles of water to vulnerable groups

Seoul endured a scorching heatwave, with temperatures climbing to 40.2 degrees Celsius in the Nowon district on Monday afternoon. This marks the first time the capital has surpassed 40 degrees since August 1, 2018.

In response to the extreme weather, food and beverage company Nongshim collaborated with the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) to provide relief to vulnerable residents. The initiative saw the donation of 50,000 bottles of Baek San Soo mineral water and approximately 20,000 servings of easy-to-prepare food items, including Bono Soup and Alconia Yellow Peach.

This effort is part of the KMA's "Heatwave Damage Prevention Campaign." Nongshim has been working with the KMA since 2017, promoting safety guidelines for heatwaves and conducting joint public-private activities. These activities include annual donations of Baek San Soo and volunteer services for those most affected by the heat.

A Nongshim representative expressed hope that the water and food supplies would offer practical assistance to residents struggling with the relentless heat. The company has a history of supporting vulnerable communities during challenging weather conditions.
