Seoul man arrested for stabbing neighbor after argument

Authorities have arrested and transferred a 60-year-old man to prosecutors in Seoul on charges of inflicting injury with a weapon after he allegedly stabbed his neighbor during a dispute. The incident took place on the evening of August 2nd in a Goshiwon, a type of compact and affordable single-room accommodation popular in South Korea.

The suspect, identified only as Mr. K, reportedly got into an argument with his neighbor, Mr. L, within the confines of the shared living space in Seoul's Yeongdeungpo district. The altercation escalated, leading K to allegedly use a knife, causing injury to L.

Police responded to the scene after the incident and apprehended K as a 현행범 (hyeonhaengbeom), meaning he was caught in the act or immediately after the crime. Investigations revealed that K and L were residents of the same Goshiwon and knew each other prior to the altercation.

Following the stabbing, L received immediate medical attention and was transported to a hospital. Authorities have confirmed that his injuries are not life-threatening. The case is now proceeding with prosecutors as the investigation continues into the specific circumstances and motives behind the dispute.
