Seoul’s Baengnyeonsan Area to Become a Multifunctional Rest Park in 7 Billion Won Project

Seoul’s Eunpyeong District plans to turn 200,000 square meters around Baengnyeonsan into a large multifunctional rest park, investing 7.046 billion won in the project.

The district said it would bring together 10 projects previously pursued separately. The aim is to connect the area’s urban forest resources with nearby residential communities.

The plan includes three main rest spaces: Kkumm a eul Supjeongi, which will link a shelter and garden with social welfare facilities; Noeulchae, where an aging pavilion will become an observation facility; and Nokbeon Station Plaza, where rest facilities will be strengthened at the entrance to Baengnyeonsan.

To improve access for older people, people with disabilities and others with limited mobility, the district plans to install an elevator on a steep section at the mountain entrance and connect it to about 0.7 kilometers of barrier-free paths. The project also includes a 1.5-kilometer loop trail. Eunpyeong secured 600 million won through a Korea Forest Service green fund support program.
