Seoul Women's University selected for national blockchain talent development project

Seoul Women's University has secured a significant government grant, being selected for the '2026 Blockchain Specialized University (Graduate) Support Project.' This initiative is spearheaded by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency, aiming to cultivate high-level blockchain professionals equipped for immediate industry deployment.

The project emphasizes a strong industry-academia collaboration model. Seoul Women's University will lead the ABCD Consortium, which includes Konyang University, Hansei University, and Raonsecure Co., Ltd. This consortium will focus on AI (Artificial Intelligence), Blockchain, Cyber-security, and DeFi (Decentralized Finance), combining the universities' specialized strengths with industry expertise to foster interdisciplinary talent.

A key feature of the program will be an industry-integrated, problem-based learning (PBL) ecosystem. This approach will incorporate real-world industry challenges directly into the curriculum, enhancing students' problem-solving capabilities. The university plans to develop a 'Blockchain and Digital Finance' micro-degree program starting in the 2026 academic year.

This micro-degree will feature a multidisciplinary curriculum covering foundational knowledge in cryptography (from the mathematics department), core blockchain technologies (from the intelligence and information security department), and DeFi service implementation (from the economics department). Companies such as LG Uplus, LS Ware, and Bithumb will participate, offering internships, project opportunities, and expert mentoring. Seoul Women's University aims to expand this into regular undergraduate and graduate programs, producing talent proficient in AI-based financial innovation.
