Serbia allocates over 225 million dinars for EXPO 2027 and National Stadium

The Serbian government has earmarked 225,120,000 dinars from its budget reserve for two major projects: the EXPO 2027 international exhibition and the construction of a new National Football Stadium. The decision, signed by Prime Minister Đuro Macut, was published in the Official Gazette.

The allocated funds will be channeled through public enterprises. Elektrodistribucija Srbije will receive support for the realization of EXPO 2027, while Elektromreže Srbije will use its portion for the construction of cable lines essential for the National Football Stadium's power supply. This allocation comes as the Ministry of Finance has already spent 804.97 million dinars on EXPO 2027 support in the first half of the year, according to Forbes Srbija.

Forbes Srbija's analysis indicates that the Ministry of Finance allocated 503.3 million dinars for subsidies to non-financial public enterprises and organizations and an additional 301.67 million dinars for the procurement of domestic non-financial assets. For 2026, the ministry plans to spend 21.2 billion dinars on the National Football Stadium, having already disbursed 5.28 billion dinars, or 24.9% of the planned amount.

However, the construction timeline for the National Stadium, located in Surčin, has been revised. It will not be completed before the specialized world exhibition EXPO 2027 begins. The new projected completion date is set for early 2028, meaning the stadium will be finished after the international event concludes.
