Serbia's Interior Ministry warns youth about rising online scams and digital violence

Serbia's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) has issued a warning to young people regarding the increasing prevalence of online scams and digital violence. The ministry highlighted that the internet presents the most significant challenges for youth, underscoring the need for knowledge, caution, and responsibility when using digital platforms.

According to the MUP, common online threats include data theft, deceptive offers of "easy money," and fraudulent messages that can lead to the misuse of personal information, financial loss, and other serious consequences. To mitigate these risks, the ministry recommends that young users avoid sharing private data, employ strong passwords, and promptly report any suspected scams to the police.

For victims of digital violence, the ministry advises against responding to perpetrators. Instead, users should block the offending individual and preserve any evidence of the harassment. These recommendations were shared on the MUP's Facebook page in observance of Youth Day, which was celebrated on August 12.
