Serbian Army assists with water supply and firefighting in drought-hit areas

The Serbian Army has deployed resources to combat the effects of a prolonged drought and to assist in firefighting operations. Autocisterns are actively supplying water to wells and reservoirs crucial for households and livestock in areas experiencing water shortages, particularly in Valjevo and Sjenica.

Responding to requests from local authorities, army units are ensuring water supply to numerous villages. These include Dolinje, Dunišiće, Trebine, and Ursule in the Sjenica municipality, and Babina Luka near Valjevo. Similar support is periodically provided to villages such as Donji Starac and Novo Selo in Bujanovac, Veliki Šiljegovac near Kruševac, and Ram close to Veliki Gradište.

In parallel with water supply efforts, military personnel are engaged in extinguishing fires in the Deliblatska Peščara region. They are utilizing firefighting vehicles, engineering machinery, and off-road vehicles. Additionally, soldiers specializing in pontoon bridging are ensuring the safety and maintenance of pontoon bridges over the Great Morava River near Svilajnac and the Danube River, connecting Zemunski Kej to Veliko Ratno Ostrvo.

Furthermore, military medical teams are actively supporting the Ministry of Health's "Military Doctor in the Village" program. This initiative aims to provide healthcare access to citizens in locations where reaching medical facilities is challenging.
