Serbian auto association warns of heat-related car dangers

The Serbian Auto-Moto Association (AMSS) is warning drivers about the dangers of leaving certain items in their vehicles during hot weather. Transparent plastic bottles, when exposed to direct sunlight, can act as magnifying glasses and ignite nearby materials. Drivers are also advised against leaving lighters, pressurized beverage cans, or cosmetic products inside cars, as high temperatures can cause them to explode.

AMSS further cautions drivers to avoid parking on dry grass, as a hot exhaust system can ignite vegetation and the vehicle itself. The association also recommends drivers stay hydrated by drinking water to maintain concentration and take breaks every two hours in shaded areas to allow both themselves and their vehicles to cool down.

Statistics indicate that cars experience more malfunctions during the summer than in winter, particularly in extreme heat. Additionally, AMSS notes that tires can explode while driving on hot asphalt.
