Serbian Citizen Among Missing After Nepal Flash Floods

A citizen of Serbia is among the foreign tourists unaccounted for after devastating flash floods swept through Nepal. The Nepal Tourism Organization confirmed that 644 foreign nationals are currently listed as missing due to the severe flooding that struck the country on Wednesday, August 26.

Among the missing are the Serbian national and one from Bulgaria. The Serbian Embassy in India, which covers Nepal on a non-residential basis, and the honorary consul of Serbia in Nepal have not yet responded to inquiries regarding Serbian citizens in the flood-affected regions.

These floods have had a catastrophic impact, with over 1,500 people reported missing in total, including at least 700 foreigners. The confirmed death toll has surpassed 270, and search and rescue operations are ongoing. The scale of the disaster underscores the vulnerability of the region to extreme weather events.

The situation remains critical as authorities continue their efforts to locate the missing and provide aid to those affected by the widespread destruction caused by the flash floods.
