Serbian Geodetic Association Demands Minister's Dismissal Over Proposed Law Changes

The Association of Serbian Geodetic Organizations (UGOS) has formally requested the Serbian government initiate proceedings to dismiss Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, Aleksandra Sofronijević. The association stated its demand is due to consistently inadequate legal frameworks concerning illegal construction, property registration, and professional responsibilities.

The primary catalyst for this demand is the proposed amendment to the Law on Special Conditions for Registration and Recording of Property Rights. UGOS strongly objects to a provision that would permit architects and civil engineers to prepare geodetic work elaborates. The association views this as a professionally, systematically, and fundamentally unacceptable move that undermines the expertise of certified geodetic professionals.

UGOS is urging the removal of this provision from the draft law. They advocate for clear regulations stipulating that geodetic work elaborates must be prepared exclusively by geodetic organizations or authorized individuals with geodetic expertise. Furthermore, the association seeks greater involvement of the geodetic profession in drafting regulations related to geodetic work, cadastral systems, and spatial data registration. They also call for a review of past legislative policies concerning illegal construction and property registration.
