Serbian Journalists' Association Condemns Threats Against Forbes Editor

The Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS) has issued a strong condemnation of threats and insults leveled against Ivan Radak, the editor of Forbes Serbia. NUNS is urging relevant institutions to immediately identify the individual responsible for posting a threatening comment and to take appropriate legal action.

The offensive comment, posted in response to an article questioning the feasibility of the EXPO project, was made by a user identified as 'Orkan.' The message contained deeply offensive and violent language, including ethnic slurs and explicit threats of violence against Radak, referring to him as a "traitor" and "Ustaše scum" and stating that "scum like you will be eradicated so that they never grow again."

NUNS has officially reported the threat to the Special Prosecutor's Office for High-Tech Crime. The association views this message as a severe form of intimidation aimed at silencing journalists for their professional work. The explicit threat of eradication, especially in the context of increasing threats against journalists in Serbia, is being taken very seriously and requires thorough investigation.

The association is demanding that the competent prosecutor's office and the police identify the person behind the comment, assess the level of danger to Ivan Radak, and investigate all circumstances surrounding the threat. NUNS stressed that threats, insults, and dehumanizing language cannot be accepted as part of public discourse. They warned that labeling journalists as "traitors" or "scum" and threatening their elimination normalizes and encourages violence against them. NUNS expressed full solidarity with Ivan Radak and expects institutions to take all necessary measures to ensure his safety.
