Serbian Minister to conduct unannounced construction site visits amid contractor disappointment

Minister of Public Investments Darko Glišić has declared his intention to make unannounced visits to construction sites throughout Serbia to monitor progress and quality. Glišić stated that he has become disappointed with the performance of certain contractors.

"I would be satisfied if everyone finished before the deadline. But know that in the future, I will visit construction sites alone, without prior notice, including this one, because I have been disappointed with some other contractors," Glišić said during a visit to the Children's Dispensary in Leskovac, which is undergoing reconstruction and expansion.

Contractors at the Leskovac site had promised the minister and the city's mayor, Goran Cvetanović, that they would complete the work eight months ahead of the scheduled deadline. The project involves reconstructing the old part of the dispensary, built about six decades ago, and adding 1,600 square meters of new space. The total area of the facility will reach 4,589 square meters, with an investment value of 670 million dinars. The City of Leskovac is contributing 160 million dinars, with the remainder covered by the ministry.

The minister's initiative reflects a desire to ensure accountability and efficiency in public infrastructure projects across the country. His direct involvement and surprise inspections aim to preempt delays and quality issues that have apparently troubled him in past projects.
