Serious highway crash injures four, including two children

A severe traffic accident unfolded on Saturday, August 15, on Romania's A1 highway, near Săliște. The collision, occurring at kilometer 272 on the Sebeș–Sibiu bound lane, involved a passenger car and the trailer of a TIR truck.

A serious traffic accident occurred on the A1 highway.

Initial investigations by the Sibiu County Police indicate that a 42-year-old foreign national driving the car collided with the rear of the TIR truck's trailer. The truck was being driven by a 31-year-old man from Dâmbovița county. Emergency services, including three SMURD units, a rescue vehicle, a fire engine, and an ambulance crew, responded promptly to the scene.

According to the initial investigations by the traffic police officers from IPJ Sibiu, a 42-year-old man, a foreign citizen, who was driving the car on the A1, collided with the trailer of the TIR set circulating in front of him.

One female passenger from the car required extrication by the rescue team and was conscious and cooperative upon being freed. Medical evaluations resulted in four individuals being transported to the hospital for treatment. These included a woman with multiple traumas, a man with head and chest injuries, a 6-year-old child with a head injury, and a 2-year-old child who, despite showing no visible signs of trauma, experienced a panic attack.

The 31-year-old truck driver declined hospitalization. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the precise causes and circumstances that led to this serious accident.

In the aftermath of the medical assessment, four people were transported to the hospital: a woman with multiple traumas, a man with cranial and thoracic trauma, a 6-year-old child with cranial trauma, and a 2-year-old child, without visible signs of trauma, but who suffered a panic attack.
