Seven Killed in Israeli Strike on Southern Lebanon Home

At least seven people were killed and three injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential building in the town of Ansar, southern Lebanon, on Saturday. The attack, which occurred at dawn, has been described as one of the deadliest Israeli actions in the region since late June.

Lebanon's National News Agency (ANN) reported that the strike, carried out by warplanes, completely demolished the house on the outskirts of Ansar, near Zrarieh. Rescue teams, including the Lebanese Civil Defense, are currently engaged in efforts to remove rubble and transfer the deceased and wounded to hospitals in Nabatieh.

This incident marks an escalation of Israeli attacks in the area, with reports indicating strikes on the Ali Taher hills and the valley between Ansar and Zrarieh. This particular zone had not been targeted since a ceasefire agreement was reached two months prior. The agreement, mediated by the United States, stipulated a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied areas in southern Lebanon, referred to as "pilot zones."

Despite the framework agreement and a significant reduction in hostilities, Israel has continued its military operations against southern Lebanon, underscoring the fragile nature of the current peace.
