Severe landslide in Dong Thap cuts off rural roads

A serious landslide has disrupted a rural road in My Tho commune, Dong Thap province, Vietnam, cutting off traffic and submerging numerous crops. The incident occurred early on June 27, 2026.

The affected section of Thien Ho Duong road, located in My Thuan hamlet, experienced a collapse extending over 40 meters. The landslide caused a significant portion of the road, approximately 10 meters wide, to fall into the river, severing the route.

While no injuries or fatalities were reported, the landslide has left residents without access and damaged their agricultural land. Local authorities responded swiftly, with the My Tho Commune People's Committee dispatching personnel to assess the damage. The Commune Military Command mobilized 13 officers and soldiers to the scene to assist in initial mitigation efforts.

Authorities have erected warning signs and are directing traffic to ensure public safety. They are also closely monitoring the area for any further instability. The immediate focus is on managing the situation and preventing further damage.
