Severe storm hits Croatia and Slovenia with hail, heavy rain, and flooding

A severe storm system swept through parts of central Croatia and Slovenia on Monday evening, bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds. In Slovenia, the Gorenjska region experienced significant disruption, with heavy rains flooding several buildings in Radovljica and fallen trees and power lines causing further issues. Wind gusts at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport reached 76 kilometers per hour. Croatia also faced challenging conditions, particularly in the Ogulin area, where intense rainfall and hail were reported. The A1 highway experienced difficult driving conditions due to heavy rain, prompting some drivers to pull over. Zagreb also experienced a strong, albeit brief, downpour that led to a noticeable drop in temperature. Authorities are urging drivers to be extra cautious due to wet roads, reduced visibility, and the potential for sudden wind gusts, especially during intense thunderstorms.
