Severe Storms Hit Croatia After Moving From Slovenia, Hail Reported

A severe weather system that originated in Slovenia has made landfall in Croatia, bringing with it intense thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds. The Međimurje region was among the first to experience the brunt of the storm, with reports of sudden hailfall in the village of Robadje and surrounding areas in upper Međimurje.

Meteorological warnings have been issued for the Zagreb and Osijek regions, anticipating the potential for severe thunderstorms, localized hail, and powerful gusts of wind. Radar imagery indicated the approach of potent storm clouds from Slovenia towards northern Croatia, prompting the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) to issue alerts for multiple areas. The probability of thunderstorms is estimated to be over 70 percent.

Forecasters predict that these unstable weather conditions will persist through Thursday, with the possibility of more intense storms and a significant temperature decrease in inland areas. The Adriatic coast will also experience variable weather, including local showers and thunderstorms. A stabilization of weather patterns, with more sunshine and a gradual temperature increase, is expected by Friday and Saturday, although strong to stormy winds are forecast for the northern Adriatic.
