Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Innsbruck and Tiroler Unterland

Residents in and around Innsbruck and the Tiroler Unterland region of Austria are bracing for severe weather as Geosphere Austria has issued an orange-level warning. This alert, signifying level 3 out of 4, indicates a significant risk of strong thunderstorms expected to impact the area from Friday afternoon and continue into the night.

According to the forecast, the thunderstorms could bring powerful wind gusts reaching up to 90 km/h, accompanied by heavy rainfall. There is also a possibility of localized hail, adding to the potential hazards associated with the developing weather system.

While the most intense conditions are anticipated in the greater Innsbruck area and Tiroler Unterland, the weather service noted that thunderstorms are also possible in other districts of Tyrol. Fortunately, the forecast suggests a calming of the weather situation starting Saturday, offering some relief after the expected turbulent period.
