Shalu District's esteemed Lin Jiang-song has two children who are principals, a local pride

In Taichung's Shalu District, the Lin family stands out as a local beacon of educational dedication. Lin Jiang-song, a respected community figure, has seen both his son, Lin Hong-tai, and daughter, Lin Yu-chieh, achieve principal positions in local schools. This familial achievement in education is a celebrated story within the community.

Lin Hong-tai, the son, has long been committed to campus development and sports education, notably leading a baseball team to victory in the Taiwan-US Baseball Festival. His sister, Lin Yu-chieh, recently took on the role of principal at Rui Jing Elementary School in Dadu District. The family's involvement in education extends further, with two other daughters and their husbands also working in the education sector.

Lin Jiang-song, a founding member of the Shalu Bai Gu Morning Swim Club, actively supports local charities and community service. He views education as fundamental to societal progress and has encouraged his children to pursue careers in teaching, seeing it as a way to give back to society.

Upon her appointment, Lin Yu-chieh chose not to accept traditional gifts like congratulatory money or flowers. Instead, she initiated the "Transforming Blessings into Faint Light - Firefly Project." This initiative aims to channel the goodwill and well-wishes received into funds for the school's underprivileged students' after-school learning and care programs, as well as for school development.

Lin Yu-chieh stated that the value of education lies not only in imparting knowledge but also in providing companionship and care. She believes that by converting celebratory gestures into tangible support for children in need, the community can create a warm and empowering environment for students to learn and grow. The "Firefly Project" exemplifies how well-intentioned wishes can become a powerful force for positive change in education.
