Sharjah Department of Culture unveils annual programme of festivals and forums

Sharjah’s Department of Culture has unveiled a packed annual programme featuring more than 40 festivals and forums, with events scheduled from September 2026 through August 2027.

The programme will bring together activities organised at local, Arab and international levels. It will include festivals, forums and awards across literary and creative fields, with the department presenting the awards as a way to encourage emerging talent.

The organisation of more than 40 festivals and forums at the local, Arab and international levels reflects the vital and sustainable role that Sharjah plays in enriching the cultural, intellectual and creative landscape.

Abdallah bin Mohammed Al Owais, chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, said the scale of the programme reflected Sharjah’s continuing contribution to the cultural, intellectual and creative landscape. “The organisation of more than 40 festivals and forums at the local, Arab and international levels reflects the vital and sustainable role that Sharjah plays in enriching the cultural, intellectual and creative landscape,” he said.

Al Owais linked the programme to the approach established by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Sharjah’s ruler and a member of the UAE Supreme Council. “This embodies the approach established by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in reinforcing the role of culture as a source of continuous contribution and supporting creativity and creative talents,” he said.
