Sheinbaum praises Navy chief as 'great secretary' and role model

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo lauded the head of the Navy Secretariat (Semar), Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales, describing him as "a great secretary of the Navy" and a model for younger generations. She characterized him as "honest, integral, prepared, committed to Mexico, formed in this institution, a patriot and above all a great human being."

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for cadets at the Heroic Naval Military School in Alvarado, Veracruz, Sheinbaum recognized the cadets' decision to dedicate their lives to protecting Mexico. "You sought to dedicate your life to protecting Mexico, and that is one of the ways to become aware of our role in history. It is one of the noblest and most transcendent decisions a person can make," she stated, highlighting the institution's significance.

She urged the graduating officers to remain prepared for new challenges, emphasizing the need for knowledge, discipline, innovation, and a profound love for their people and country. Sheinbaum remarked that authority is only meaningful when exercised with honesty and humility. As custodians of the nation's hard-won freedom, sovereignty, and dignity, the new officers carry the legacy of past generations.

Sheinbaum concluded by noting that the Mexican Navy is one of the institutions that inspires the most confidence among citizens, a trust earned through decades of work, discipline, and service. The president's remarks underscore the administration's appreciation for the military's role in national security and integrity.
