Shila Amzah Considers Relocating to China for Career Growth

Singer Shila Amzah is contemplating a move to China, driven by the expanding career opportunities in the country. After navigating various challenges over her 25-year career, the artist feels she has reached a calmer phase, now possessing the freedom to shape her life and professional path.

I can say I can breathe a sigh of relief with the freedom I have. Sometimes, Ubai and I wonder if everything had happened or progressed faster to achieve what we aimed for. If that were the case, perhaps I wouldn't have rejected the idea of moving back to China. I would also bring the children to settle there because now, every time I go there for work, it takes three or four days, and sometimes I have to leave the children.

Her mother and stepfather live nearby, allowing her mother to help care for the children while Shila is away. "That's one of the sacrifices I have to make. But I will make sure my children see their mama and feel proud of me. That's the first thing that's always on my mind," she added.

Amzah revealed she is set to sign another contract in China, though details remain undisclosed. She believes frequent travel between Malaysia and China would become too exhausting. "I think if I keep going back and forth, it's actually tiring," she explained. This potential relocation is not an indication of neglecting her Malaysian fanbase or feeling unappreciated at home. "I lived in China from 2012 for eight years. Then I returned to Malaysia, after that came Covid-19 and so on. I felt there was no fortune at that time. So when the opportunity comes again now, it's not that I want to talk about appreciation or anything. For me, wherever there is fortune, that's what I believe. And that doesn't mean I forget my fans here. Otherwise, I wouldn't have made a Malay album or held a concert here. I'm just trying to find a balance," she said.
