Shin Bet joins Israel Police in searching for missing child last seen on Ashkelon beach

An intensive search is underway for four-year-old Yuval Kogan, who vanished from Hofit Beach in Ashkelon on Thursday morning. Shin Bet agents have joined Israel Police officers in the large-scale operation, which is deploying extensive resources across land, sea, and air.

Kogan was last seen near the beach wearing a green shirt, accompanied by his father. The two reportedly parted ways briefly, and the father noticed the child's absence shortly after. Hundreds of police officers and volunteers are scouring the sandy terrain, which includes high and low dunes and numerous potential hiding spots, stretching from Ashkelon's northern coast to the Nitzanim settlement.

As the search continues into the night, concerns for the child's safety are escalating. Kogan's mother, Dina, pleaded for public assistance, expressing her deep worry and fear that her son may have been kidnapped. Specialized units, including United Hatzalah's Drone Unit and the Marine Police Unit, are actively involved, utilizing technological resources and rescue teams.

Assistant-Chief Chaim Bublil, Head of the Southern District Police, has ordered the search to expand into nighttime hours, emphasizing the deployment of all available Israel Police resources until the child is located. Ashkelon Mayor Tomer Galam is also coordinating municipal teams with the police. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any information to the police emergency hotline.
